[i carry your heart(i carry it in]
This painting is done by watercolor, because, like the poem, I want to show the flowing effect with water. The main idea of the poem is unity, and therefore, by making the speaker and his lover squished together in a tree, the idea is easily presented. The picture is purposely cut into a circle to represent the idea of unity, as well as a perfect ending for the lovers. Since the last stanza ends with the same sentence as the title and the first sentence, this symbolises that the end returns to the beginning, forming a circle.
In the middle of the picture, we see the lovers standing side by side, holding hands and their bodies intertwined to form the base for the tree of life. Around them, we see a halo of light, which symbolises the radiance of life. Their hands are integrated into the branches, while their legs form the trunk that slowly goes deep into the earth, till it reaches the core. 'The sky of the sky' means that the tree of life grows higher and endlessly towards the universe. On the surface of the ground, we can see a lot of buds. These buds are tender and soft, immersed in the light of the tree. Also, beneath the roots lies a heart. This heart symbolises love, and this is the source that creates a tree of life which soars up into the highest sky. Moreover, the sun and moon are looming in the midst of the tree. They are eternally giving the lovers warmth and affection. |
